Spartans let 6 run 2nd inning hurt as they fall to Carterville today 10-9.
Tim Skidmore took the loss throwing 5 innings and allowing 10 hits. Alex Kramer threw a perfect 6th and Brian Witges threw the 7th allowing 1 run.
Skiddy lead the Spartans at the plate with a 2-4 day. He hit a 2 run bomb in the 6th to give him 3 RBI for the day. Smitty was 1-1 with a 2 run single. Brett Crocker stays going 1-2 and Brian Witges returned to the lineup going 1-4 with 2 RBI.
A bleeding 2nd inning that could not be controlled and a couple of defensive miscues hurt the Spartans. They fell down 6-0 but did battle to make it a 1 run final.
WSV travel to NCOE tomorrow for the first conference game of the year at 4:00 p.m.
